Code of Conduct
Members of the WP-BBC stick to the following principles:
Every person who has made a successful application to the WP - Biewer Breed Club shall be bound by the Code of Conduct relating to responsible dog ownership including the keeping, breeding, selling and welfare of the dogs as detailed below.
All appropriate pedigrees to be provided.
No member of the WP - BBC club shall transact with or sell to Brokers/Dealers, Pet Stores, or Commercial Kennels.
No bitches shall be bred before their second heat or before they are at least 12 months of age, whichever comes first, nor are placed at risk by unreasonable number of litters and/or cesarean sections.
Ensure that any person wishing to acquire a dog from them is properly screened to establish suitability for ownership of the dog.
Breeders will provide puppy buyers with written details of date and type of a minimum of two (2) inoculations and worming. Puppies must also be micro chipped before leaving the breeder.
All dogs must be DNA tested.
All dogs bred in South Africa with at least three lines pure Biewer to Biewer breeding.
Tail docking is not permitted.
All dogs offered for sale will be sold with a written agreement to include terms and conditions agreed to and signed by the seller and the buyer.
No breeder shall release a puppy to its new owner before it has reached the age of twelve (10) weeks. Potential owners shall buy from the home in which the puppy was born and should be allowed the opportunity to view the parents of the litter.
Not allow a stud dog to be used without consideration of the possible or probable results of the particular mating regarding both the Breed Standard and temperamental characteristics of both sire and dam. Stud service will be offered only by healthy, mature dogs and bitches.
Ensure that all dogs are kept in a home as a house pet and shall not be kenneled for extended periods of time.
Such a dog shall receive Veterinary attention from a qualified person, as and when required.
Ensure that all persons acquiring dogs from them clearly understand their responsibilities for the care, welfare and attention of such dogs and they, the new owners, have the time and facilities to undertake their obligations as laid down in this Code of Conduct.
Provide to all persons acquiring dogs from them, whether by sale or gift or some other means, written details of all dietary and immunization requirements.
Ensure that the correct inoculations, as required by law, are administered at the proper time.
Ensure that prompt qualified medical attention is administered should they become ill or injured.
