Breed Order
The WP - BBC strives to protect and promote the future of the Biewer by breeding superior quality dogs only. To achieve this, we rely on the co-operation from our approved members to adhere to the breed order as outlined below.
Basic principles:
All breeders who belong to the WP - BBC will attempt to ensure the safety and well-being of all dogs owned. It will be the said breeders' first priority at all times to adhere to the Breed Standards set out KUSA (Kennel Union of South Africa)
WP - BBC members shall not engage in the breeding to include the Yorkshire Terrier or any other breed back into the Biewer. We focus on Biewer to Biewer breeding exclusively.
All pet dogs are placed on a spay/neuter contract.
All breeders are bound by this agreement, and should the buyer no longer be able to keep the dog, the breeder should be willing to take the dog back or assist in the re-homing of the dog.
Members shall keep dogs in a clean, healthy environment and provide health care and protection through worming, inoculations and necessary veterinary care.
Breeding:
All dogs should be bred from pedigreed Biewer's for quality, with consideration given to type, temperament, health and soundness. Any dog with a known genetic defect should not be used for breeding.
All breedings will be planned and aimed at the improvement of the breed.
Bitches:
Bitches and Studs should be screened prior to breeding for infectious and hereditary diseases by a qualified veterinarian.
Bitches should not be bred before 12 months of age, and not after the age of 8 years.
Healthy spacing between litters will be a priority and unspayed bitches will be protected from unplanned matings.
Stud dogs:
The Stud dog should be used selectively and should not be bred to unregistered bitches.
Stud dogs should not be allowed to breed before the age of 12 months of age.
Written contracts clearly stating all arrangements agreed to by the breeder/client and signed by both are recommended.
Identification:
Permanent identification (Micro-chip or tattoo) is required before the puppy leaves the breeder's ownership.
DNA identification is mandatory on all breeding pairs.
Health Screening:
Breeders will fully disclose any and all genetic abnormalities in the bloodlines and progeny to the President of the WP - BBC.
The breeder also agrees to NEVER breed the same sire and dam together again.
Siblings of the affected puppies should be neutered or spayed and sold to pet homes only.
